Recovering the Lost Value of Biblical Hospitality.
Values that can hinder deepening relationships:
1. Accomplishment
2. Accumulation
3. Refuge
4. Anonymity
The first core concept of hospitality: Acceptance
“Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.” ~ Romans 15:7
“accept” = To take in , into ones home, fellowship
“just as Christ accepted you”
(Romans 5:6-8; Mark 2:17; Romans 10:13; Hosea)
Accepting people means loving people who are different from me. Romans 15:1-2
Accepting people means being patient with people who struggle in different ways than I do.
Is there ever a time when we are NOT supposed to “welcome/accept” another person into our lives?
(I Corinthians 5:9-11; Titus 3:10-11)
Food for thought:
What kinds of things are keeping me from MAKING ROOM for deeper relationships with people?
